Not sure what's going on at the 21-almost-22 month stage but here are some reasons why little Maxiboy is throwing a tantrum lately…
- I want to change his diaper first thing in the morning because he's had a poop
- I walked out of the bedroom faster than him first thing in the morning
- I gave him Raisin Bran instead of cheerios for breakfast
- I took away his pacifiers before breakfast was ready (has to be taken away just seconds prior, not a moment earlier!)
- I want him to wear jeans
- I want him to wear any sort of pants because he refused the jeans
- I put a sweater on him before he was ready to accept it
- I'm putting a shirt on him (vs. being naked)
- not enough time spent at the toy area of store
- I peeled the banana and gave him a piece of it (he wants to hold the banana with the peel and eat it like the rest of us)
- We've hid the iPad indefinitely and he wants to see Elmo or Truck vids on youtube
- I want him to wear socks before putting his shoes on
- I changed the orientation of his shoes so they're on the right foot
- I started cleaning up his scattered books before he was ready for them to be cleaned
- we didn't let him sit in the driver's seat and play with the steering wheel
- it's time to brush his teeth (this guy puts up a fight nightly)
- we only read for 30 minutes intstead of the 1 hour before bed ritual (sorry If i was at work, kid!)
- it's bath time
- it's bed time
- he saw the door to his room closed with the lights off when he just ran to get something in the living room (usually before bath time)
- he doesn't want to get out of the bath
- he just woke up from a GOOD nap (this happens on and off)
- grandma and grandpa have to go home without him
- he can't pick up the truck in the book he's reading (because it's a picture of a truck!)
Just a day in the life with a toddler!.
One really has to choose their battles these days. And, what was once a 15 minute process of getting dressed, heading out, and catching the bus as a singleton…is now a 45+ minute process with a near 2 year old just to pack gear, get dressed, and walk to the bus stop.
Oh boy!
