^^ whoa clearly in need of a haircut! ^^
Im heading back to work tomorrow feeling slightly ripped off on my days off because of the lack of good sleep I've been getting lately (woe is me, i know i know). if you're a shift worker like myself u know it takes at least 2 days to recover from a night shift, but when you add sleep training/sleep reconfiguring/ sleep style adjusting…wow, brain fried!
the complete week wasn't a total write off though: my first day off started with an obligatory trip to the shopping centres of Vancouver with Max to see the latest and greatest for the upcoming holiday season. I'm currently not feeling at all Christmas-y this year yet despite the mass advertisements from flyers to what's on the shelves. Max and i have been playing the Elvis duets daily and though it's an absolute bomb (in a good way) of a compilation, i know all the songs already and I need something new and not so redundant. when is 103.5qm/fm going to play their non-stop Christmas music? that almost always gets me in the Christmas mood without fail! this time last year i also had a plan of action for Christmas cards with Max on them. I have no clue what to do this year as Max is just a little too mobile for some still cute-though-contrived shots, no matter how easy pinterest makes it seem! for those that will receive Christmas cards from me, they'll be bought ones unless again with the pinterest, can inspire me with something do-able for the not so art-inclined.
my second day off i spent at a little girl's birthday party. super cute and social girl who was beaming with smiles. happy birthday Maddie! the house was full of gifts- lots of pinks. the grass is always greener on the other side they say….shopping for girls is SO EASY. after the party, i made it within a few minutes to one of my bff's baptism at Kitsilano Beach. this was my first ever adult baptism. coming from a Catholic background, i am just so used to infants getting baptized in church but in Viv's faith, it was a ceremony amongst the elements and adults practicing their autonomy when it comes to their own spiritual paths. Congratulations Viv!
^^ ball pit heaven ^^
The rest of the week i spent at various play areas like this new neighbourhood house I saw on a friends' post on Facebook. Max really loved it there because of the bouncy castle and the ball pit! i also liked the variety of gymnastics gym equipment as well as free play toys, and most of all parents who were watching their kids! of course there were the odd extra rowdy kids and the ones that would snatch away whatever Max was playing with but overall parents were watching their children. thank the high heavens. This will be our new hangout come every tuesday and thursday and Strong Start gym days on Monday and Wednesdays. I love finding places that isn't the mall to spend our days when it's raining out.
That's all she wrote.
Have a great week!
^^ bouncy castle fun! ^^
You can do it Mitzi! Some kind of sleep whoas will come and go over our parenting journey. Something puts a crimp in how things used to flow so nicely, but you will get through it! Hopefully your shifts won't be too crazy and maybe a little coffee break nap if you need it ;)
ReplyDeleteWhere's this play place? Would be good to know of more indoor play places for this cold season.
